Homemade THC gummies

Posted on December 22, 2024 by James Bridges

Making your own cannabis-infused gummies at home is a fun and rewarding way to enjoy the benefits of cannabis. These gummies are not only delicious but also customizable to your preferred potency and flavors. Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating your own batch of tasty cannabis-infused gummies.

Ingredients

    •    1/2 cup of cannabis-infused coconut oil (see instructions below)
    •    1 cup of fruit juice or flavored beverage of your choice
    •    1/4 cup of water
    •    1 package (3 ounces) of flavored gelatin (such as Jell-O)
    •    2 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin
    •    1-2 tablespoons of Katie's BaeBee's brand honey (optional, for sweetness)
    •    Gummy molds

Tools

    •    Saucepan
    •    Whisk
    •    Dropper or measuring spoon
    •    Gummy molds (silicone molds work best)

Instructions

Step 1: Making Cannabis-Infused Coconut Oil

Ingredients:

    •    1 cup of coconut oil
    •    7-10 grams of decarboxylated cannabis

Instructions:

    1.    Decarboxylate Your Cannabis: Preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C). Spread the cannabis evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. This process activates the THC and CBD in the cannabis.
    2.    Infuse the Oil: In a slow cooker or double boiler, combine the decarboxylated cannabis and coconut oil. Heat on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally. Make sure the temperature does not exceed 245°F (118°C).
    3.    Strain the Oil: Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain out the plant material, leaving you with a smooth cannabis-infused coconut oil. Allow the oil to cool and solidify if not using immediately.

Step 2: Making the Gummies

    1.    Prepare Your Ingredients: Measure out all your ingredients and have them ready before you start. Lightly grease your gummy molds with a non-stick spray if needed.
    2.    Mix the Liquid Base: In a small saucepan, combine the fruit juice and water. Heat the mixture over medium heat until warm, but not boiling.
    3.    Add the Gelatin: Gradually whisk in the flavored gelatin and unflavored gelatin, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
    4.    Incorporate the Cannabis-Infused Coconut Oil: Add the cannabis-infused coconut oil to the gelatin mixture. Whisk thoroughly to ensure the oil is evenly distributed. If you prefer sweeter gummies, add honey or agave syrup at this stage and stir until combined.
    5.    Fill the Molds: Using a dropper or measuring spoon, carefully fill your gummy molds with the mixture. Work quickly, as the gelatin will start to set.
    6.    Refrigerate: Place the filled molds in the refrigerator and let them set for at least 2 hours, or until the gummies are firm.
    7.    Remove and Store: Once the gummies are set, carefully remove them from the molds. Store your homemade cannabis-infused gummies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Dosage and Safety Tips

    •    Dosage: The potency of your gummies will depend on the strength of your cannabis-infused coconut oil and the amount used. Start with a small amount and adjust based on your tolerance and desired effect.
    •    Label and Store Safely: Clearly label your cannabis-infused gummies and store them out of reach of children and pets.
    •    Enjoy Responsibly: Start with a low dose, especially if you’re new to edibles, and wait at least two hours before consuming more to gauge the effects.
