One of the most amazing aspects of the cannabis Sativa plant is its botany classification of non-toxic. By definition, non-toxic is considered non-poisonous and harmless to the human body. Does this mean a person can over-consume cannabis without a negative experience? No, it does not. Although cannabis is classified as non-toxic, when it is consumed in large quantities or high percentages of THC, a person may experience overstimulation of the endocannabinoid system resulting in a negative medicated experience, or over-green” if you will.

The most effective way to prevent an over-green” episode is to know your dosage! Dosing differs from person to person and ailment to ailment. When medicating with cannabis it is important to begin your journey at a very low dosage (1-5mg THC) and to always listen to your body when medicating. Understanding each consumption method and its benefits is also important in preventing over-greening” and establishing homeostasis within the body. I will briefly describe each consumption method and provide my personal recommendation.

  1. Smoking is the most common consumption method and for good reason, it works really, really fast! When cannabis is consumed through inhalation it activates and stimulates the endocannabinoid system within eight seconds!
  • I recommend this consumption method for clients who suffer from anxiety, migraines, pain, addiction, asthma, insomnia, inflammation, and any other ailment that requires relief within eight seconds.
  1. Edibles are a wonderful resource for micro-dosing throughout the day, and when prepared properly can host a plethora of additional health benefits. Healthy edible options include foods that contain little to no sugar, gluten, high fructose corn syrup, or other processed ingredients. Choosing edibles without these ingredients assist in the prevention of additional inflammation throughout the body and continues to supports the immune system on a cellular level. Whole hemp flower is another easy way to incorporate cannabis into any meal and is jam-packed with all omega fatty acids, magnesium, iron, folate, and protein!
  • I recommend all of my clients make their own edibles with a medicated olive oil, cannabutter, or medicated coconut oil and consume cannabis daily. Micro-dosing through a daily cooking routine is easy to accomplish and supports a continuous homeostasis status within the body.
  1. Topicals are another fabulous option for every person! While we understand cannabiss medicinal properties for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and arthritis, it is also beneficial to use daily to maintain healthy skin balance and protection.
  • I recommend using a daily cannabis product on your face to slow the aging process, prevent acne, reduce redness, clean pores, and maintain healthy skin. A daily lotion with low cannabidiol content is wonderful for maintaining healthy moisturized skin all over the body.
  1. Sublingual cannabis consumption is the method of ingesting cannabis orally and under the tongue. The best product for this type of consumption method is a tincture.
  • I recommend this type of product to all my clients seeking any type of wellness. A daily tincture assists the body in establishing homeostasis throughout your endocannabinoid system including but not limited to balancing glucose levels, hormones, blood pressure, thyroid function, inflammation, pain, ADD / ADHD symptoms, and more!
  1. Suppositories are guys and girls best friend! These little rockets of wellness can provide relief from pain within 30 minutes and last for over 6 hours!
  • I recommend these to my clients who suffer from extreme or chronic pain, arthritis, menstrual pain, endometriosis, PCOS, hemorrhoids, cancer patients, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, and more.
