Ganja Mom
by Amy Lee
There is a shift happening in society within the “mom groups” and I support it 100 percent. Emerging from the shadows of social media groups is a force of “new” moms standing tall in who they are and what they stand for unapologetically. These moms aren’t new to society, oh no, they have been here all along but now they don’t care what you think of them. Meet The Ganja Mom, she is a cannabis educated woman who has done her research on the incredible wellness benefits of cannabis and isn’t afraid to share her useage or knowledge with anyone and everyone including her children. The Ganja Mom understands that cannabis is a tool used to encourage balance mentally, physically and providing medicinal needs by supporting the endocannabinoid system with daily cannabis use. In fact some of the medical marijuana industry’s loudest advocates are mothers, who not only support the use of medical marijuana for their children but also for themselves. However, she is not always met with welcoming arms. I believe this is due to society’s negative stigma towards cannabis users as lazy, unmotivated and incapable of completing tasks. When in reality Ganja Moms are finding stress relief, motivation, increased energy levels, patience, mental clarity, boosts in mood and learning to love the role of mom!
As a single mother, I am no stranger to the stress and worries that come with raising a child. Personally, I started medicating again after my daughter was born, when I was suffering from severe postpartum depression as well as many other health issues. I found the most relief when I was able to medicate daily and consistently. Cannabis provided a greater sense of relief than any prescription without the harsh side effects throughout my body. I was able to reduce my anxiety, stress, scatterbrain and improve my sleep throughout the night within the first use. I was also able to slow down my “busy day” to appreciate the joy in each moment of raising my daughter, something I wasn’t doing previously due to my stress levels. A recent survey of 10,000 California cannabis consumers conducted by Eaze Insights found that 63 percent of parents are daily cannabis consumers, further supporting that medicating daily is assisting parents in many ways and opening a door to a new generation of child rearing.
As a certified Cannacian and health coach, I take every opportunity to educate my daughter on the many wellness benefits of cannabis and proper nutrition. I want her to understand that cannabis can be used as the first solution instead of a last resort. Many moms are taking the same opportunity to educate their children and raise a generation that is knowledgeable on cannabis for wellness. Welcome the Ganja Moms,
I am with you and I support you.
