The Feminine Divine featuring: Kayla Wheeler

Meet Kayla. Born in sunny San Diego, California, she’s the youngest child out of seven children. With two sisters and four brothers, Kayla was referred to as the “miracle child”. Her mother had a tubal pregnancy after her sister was born that ended up damaging her fallopian tubes and the doctors said that there was a 98.9% chance that she wouldn’t have children again. Fast forward to seven years later, Kayla’s little spirit entered in with a strong will to be here. Growing up with parents who were quite miserable with each other and constantly arguing, her childhood wasn’t a smooth one. They divorced when she was five years old.

With her dad having custody over her and her sister, with the older siblings moving out of the house, she learned some hard lessons as a kid from her father who was a tough shelled man. Lessons that stuck out to her were things like, “Nobody is your friend. Everyone is out for themselves. Don’t rely on anything unless it’s solid in your hand. Everyone lies and the world is a cold hearted place”.  As a young girl, Kayla felt the need to question him trying to understand how every single person in the world was all possibly the same and that crooked. She expresses that her parents weren’t angels and they played their part in a world of biker gangs and drug dealing. As much as she feels like her parents try to hide it, she can still feel the rippling effects of her family’s ancestral baggage.

Her father did her best to raise well mannered, well equipped young ladies, always providing food and shelter. When she was twelve, her dad chose to move them out to the High Desert in California. She describes it as a beautiful lake, in the middle of the desert, just down the road from the infamous Lake Dolores water park. Spending time there, she experienced an exciting life as a teenager. She loved to ride quads with the neighbors, wakeboard, horseback ride, fish, etc. Remembering her 16th birthday well, Kayla was allowed to have a live band play at her party and the lake community joined in for the celebration. She expresses that music and marijuana have both been big contributing factors in her life with who she is today.

Kayla is truly blessed for every lesson and opportunity that has been presented to her. Using other peoples examples and stories, she decided who she wanted to be and what that influence looked like. She saw both the positive and negative side of things and tends to question everything, which is never a bad thing. There are always two sides, good and bad, light and dark, day and night. As a person, Kayla believes that it’s up to us individually to decide how we want to live, who we want to be and how we choose to treat other people. You can either let the bad destroy you or you can choose to rise above and choose better for yourself and the life you want to live.

Moving out at the age of seventeen, Joshua Tree is really where her life began and the one place she feels like she manifested a few years before. It’s a crazy feeling to take a step back and realize that you contributed to making something happen in your life that you’ve dreamed of before.

Growing up and hearing the term, ‘jack of all trades and a master of none’, is something that she feels like suits her, while she’s always learning something new. Her hobbies range from photography, painting, crafting dream catchers, reading tarot cards, playing with fire, aerial skills, outdoor activities, dancing, singing and more! She personally loves to say that she’s a jack of all trades and a master of FUN. With the entire universe inspiring her with colors, shapes, people, places and things, she really enjoys inspiring others to create something beautiful of their own.

Kayla has been a Cannabis Cultivator at Ashlocks farm in Oklahoma, for two years now. She’s been involved with the cultivation of the plant since she was eighteen, with experience in working with commercial grows, underground grows, greenhouse grows and much more. Opening up a bag of brick weed when she was fourteen, she was intrigued to understand how it grew. Without even realizing it, she set her whole future in motion with that one small fleeting thought.

At the age of eighteen, Kayla had met her first group of underground cultivators, that were the original plugs. By this time, she had acquired a taste for the finer, hard to find, top shelf  “chronic” that people spoke so highly of, which was rare back then. This type of weed was not easy to come by and the people involved were not blue collar people.

Feeling like she rides the waves of life, like the currents of the ocean, it has taken her and is still taking her everywhere she’s needed to be at just the right moments. Not necessarily always wanting to be a cannabis cultivator, it was just kind of in her nature, like it was what she was meant to do.

There was a chunk of time where Kayla moved to New York, feeling lost and not knowing what she wanted to do. After seeing it went legal in Oklahoma, she had a job within 2 days of moving here in 2020. It wasn't until she had been through a couple places, when she really found where she belonged, at Ashlocks Farm! She describes this place as a real community of people, all working together to do amazing things, for not only the patients, but other companies and business owners too! Feeling so blessed in the position she’s in, Kayla gets to grow craft cannabis for the people and likes to think that her vibes truly emit themselves through her plants. When the patients inhale the bud grown at Ashlocks Farm, they will feel a euphoric and spirit lifting feeling rush over them, passing on a little of her own special light through every plant.

Kayla expresses that some people's energy is reflected through storytelling, the art they create, the reiki they practice, the messages they give and so much more. Energy can be passed in many ways, which is why Kayla has the best intentions possible with every step she takes in the growing and cultivating of medical Cannabis. She passionately grows marijuana because it is what she feels most connected with out of all the hobbies she has. She says she’s no master grower, but rather an enthusiastic cultivator in an unmasterable career.

There is healing to be found from marijuana, not only scientifically, but spiritually as well.

This plant has brought so much healing to Kayla herself. Having troubles focusing in school as a kid is something many people can relate to. It wasn’t until she tried marijuana for her first time that things changed. Her grades went up, things became a lot easier for her to understand and she kept focus in a way she hadn’t felt before. Currently, she uses the plant to calm her nerves, to relax her brain from the mental chatter, while also enjoying topicals for her muscle aches and pain.

Kayla believes that whether you’re male or female, we as spirits all have the ability to connect and access that divine feminine nature we have inside of us. Personally, she embraces it everyday without really putting much thought into it. Every time she enters into any room with the plants, she feels connected to every one of them, as she gazes and admires them, while also speaking life into them. She also listens to her plants as they tell her what they need. Listening is important. If she’s sad, they are sad. When she’s happy, so are they. When Kayla’s happy, she notices the plants look more perky. There’s nothing strange about this at all, and if you’re a grower who intentionally connects with your plants, then you understand this concept. Those plants are her Feminine Divine.

She has no problem with rooting herself in nature, with dirt under her fingernails and getting down and dirty for the ladies. Kayla says that getting close to her plants is getting close to that divine feminine energy! While tending to the plants, tapping into her inner child is pretty easy for her. She loves to dance with not only the lady plants in the grow, but also her three little girls being Tessa, Gracie and Harley. Music is always playing in the flower rooms if she’s in there, dancing and working at the same time. Grooving keeps her moving!

Having a love for books, Kayla mentions that without them, she wouldn’t have all of the knowledge she has with growing cannabis. With a vast library of books that are all different subjects, she enjoys topics like energy healing, crystals, Buddhism, self help, vampire, herbal healing, and her personal favorite being The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life by Drunvalo Melchizedek. With Eckheart Tolle being one of her most favorite authors, she also enjoys The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. She indulges in books that are eye opening, help her learn and shift perspectives.

When asking Kayla what sort of advice she would pass along to someone reading this she says to never give up! Even if your dreams sound too far out of reach at the moment, don’t listen to the people that tell you that you can’t. She expresses to just trust in the Universe and the power within yourself. Your thoughts about life matter the most, so take charge of them. Trust that even in your lowest moment, God, Creator, The Universe, The Divine, whatever entity you want to call it, has a plan for you and you are exactly where you’re meant to be. What’s meant for you will never miss you!

Trusting her own instincts, if it doesn’t feel right then she won’t do it. As Kayla moves through her own journey, she chooses to accept what is in the present, knowing that she’s always taken care of. Caring for such a sacred plant and getting to touch plants everyday puts her right in her zone, feeling like she’s exactly where she needs to be.
