Staying Hydrated for the Summer

Posted on December 22, 2024 by James Bridges

Welcome to the start of summer! With the temperatures rising, it’s crucial to stay hydrated, especially if you’re enjoying cannabis. Proper hydration not only keeps you feeling good but also ensures a safer and more enjoyable cannabis experience.

Why is hydration so important? For one, water helps regulate your body temperature, which is essential during these hot summer days. Plus, cannabis can sometimes cause dry mouth and eyes, making it even more important to stay on top of your hydration game.

One of my favorite ways to stay hydrated is with CBD and THC-infused beverages. Imagine a refreshing CBD ot THC lemonade or a chilled iced tea. These drinks not only keep you hydrated but also provide a calming effect. If you’re not into making your own, there are plenty of great store-bought options out there too.

Here are some easy tips to keep yourself hydrated: always carry a water bottle, set reminders on your phone to drink water throughout the day, and eat foods with high water content like watermelon, cucumbers, and strawberries. These small steps can make a big difference.

It’s also important to recognize the signs of dehydration, like dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. If you notice any of these symptoms, drink water, find some shade, and take a rest.

When it comes to cannabis, mindful consumption is key. Pace yourself and avoid overconsumption, especially in the heat. Try to balance your activities with hydration breaks. Think about doing yoga with a CBD-infused water break in between.

Choosing the right water can also make a difference in your hydration game. There are several types of water to consider, each with its own benefits:

– Spring Water: Sourced from natural springs, this water often contains essential minerals and has a refreshing taste. Look for brands that offer transparency about their sources.
– Mineral Water: Packed with minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium, mineral water can help replenish electrolytes. It’s great for those hot days when you’re sweating more.
– Alkaline Water: Known for its higher pH level, alkaline water can neutralize acidity in the body. Some people find it more hydrating, but it’s best to try it yourself and see how your body responds.
– Electrolyte Water: Specifically designed to replace lost electrolytes, this is a good option if you’re active or spending a lot of time in the sun. It’s also useful if you’ve had a bit too much to drink the night before.
– Coconut Water:  Naturally rich in electrolytes, coconut water is a tasty alternative to traditional water. Just make sure to choose brands without added sugars or artificial flavors.

When choosing your water, look for options that are free from added chemicals. Check the labels for information on the source and the mineral content. It’s also a good idea to keep a variety of waters on hand to suit different needs throughout the day.  As we kick off the summer, remember that staying hydrated is vital for a safe & enjoyable experience, especially when consuming cannabis. Embrace the warmth, enjoy your favorite strains, & keep hydration at the forefront to make the most of this sunny season!
