Strain Review: Planet of the Cakes

Posted on July 13, 2020 by Herbage

  • Grower: Private Gardens from Concentrated Genetics
  • Strain: Planet of the Cakes
  • 12 Monkeys x Wedding Cake

I was lucky enough to be one of three people to try Planet of the Cakes. When I say lucky, I sincerely mean it. Can I just say wow! I reached out to do a profile on Concentrated Genetics Strains and the owner was gracious enough to bestow me with three different strains to try. Ambrrr Alert, 66 Cookies, and Planet of the Cakes. The latter two are grown by private gardens. I figured I would do the review on my favorite of the three. Planet of the Cakes seemed to be the favorite of the owner of Concentrated Genetics Strains too. In all ways this strain was impressive; It is aesthetically pleasing, terpene rich, has trichomes for days, and is cured ever so properly.

I would gladly pay to get my hands on some more.

Planet of the Cakes

Planet of the Cakes is a strain created by crossing Wedding Cake with 12 Monkeys. Wedding Cake is a strain quite a few of us are familiar with. 12 Monkeys, on the other hand, is not something I had even heard of. This combination Makes Planet of the Cakes a strain that creatures from far and wide would search to find. Aesthetically speaking it had all the colors you want to see. Quite befitting for the month of June, being it’s Pride Month! The more colorful my bud is, the more I seem to love it.

Different hues of purple and green with deep orange hairs make it one of the most beautiful buds I have ever seen. So beautiful, in fact, you almost find yourself a little sad for having to break it up. You don’t have to bust the bud open to smell the intoxicating terpene profile that this strain radiates. When you do though, it kicks you in the face. Sweet cream and skunk fragrances fill your nostrils and the entire room.

This strain is very loud and proud.

Planet of the Cakes

A cute little recycler was my choice piece to try Planet of the Cakes for the first time. On the inhale you feel the pepper almost sit on your tongue. Reminding me of that mouth feel you get with creamy strains, but with way more pepper to the taste. When exhaling you taste tons of citrus. The citrusy terpenes really surprise you after getting such a peppery terpene taste with the inhale.

It didn’t take much for me to feel the intensity that this strain provides.

A few puffs in and I was already feeling the vibe. My favorite combination of effects is an uplifting headiness and a heavy body that is able to relax all my tense muscles. Which is exactly what this strain delivered. Ash that burned white, with terpenes that you could taste till the end of the bowl. Planet of the Cakes is one of my new favorites in Oklahoma. Being that I was only one of three that has tried it so far, makes me worried I may have a hard time finding it in the future.  Nonetheless that will not stop me from searching!

For those of you who get your hands on Planet of the Cakes, I can promise you will not be disappointed.
