Oklahoma SQ 837 Memo – Editorial

Posted on July 25, 2025 by James Bridges

Friends, renegades, fellow travelers, and those that are sitting back watching the show,

It’s late. I guess it could be early, depending on how twisted your sense of reality has become. The clock screams at me to go back to sleep. Yet, here I am, awake, haunted by visions of what we’ve become and what we might yet become. The truth is ugly. It churns in my gut. We’re teetering between freedom and regulation, sanity and madness. This thin line has developed entirely too many gaps. These gaps have evolved over the last few years.

A simple plant, vilified and shoved into a corner by bureaucrats in suits who wouldn’t know true liberation if it hit them square between their glazed, dollar-sign eyes…

They spew their fears, waving their pens like pitchforks, absurdly associating false data to prove slanted claims, screaming about safety and protection while tightening the noose around every free spirit, patient, small business owner, and cultivator who’s ever dared to defy their corporate overlords. And they always have.

SQ 837 should be welcomed with open arms by those that support our mutiny against the twisted minds that see the industry as nothing more than another cash cow. They regulate, overtax, and criminalize while feeding you lies through polished teeth and plastic curves. They call it “public safety,” but it’s just more reefer madness in a pinstripe suit, squeezing the life from our community.

Whether they know it or not, it’s the sad truth.

I’ve witnessed this plant save lives, hell, it saved mine. It’s not a metaphorical salvation. It’s reality. I personally watched a child recover almost instantly while having a seizure. I’ve used videos and images to show people the wonders of this plant. Veterans shaking off nightmares, mothers quieting the pain, sad souls finding brief sanctuary from this hell on earth. Yet, these self fulfilling bureaucrats want to take it from your hands and hand it over to their corporate saviors, reducing your freedom to a mere privilege… A privilege.

I’m sick and tired of chalking it up to ignorance. I’m done with giving the benefit of doubt. It is clear that this industry, lifestyle, awakening of the minds is not respected or even acknowledged as relevant unless there is a gold nugget hanging loose and about to fall into their own pockets.

On August 6th, we draw the line. We must have enough signatures to seize back what’s mine and yours November 4th. Solidify the recapture of your dignity, your medicine, your right to live and heal as you and I damn well please.

Imagine a state where growers flourish, communities prosper, and healing is not a privilege but a fundamental right. Imagine the natural medicines and benefits of nature being realized by even those that turn their nose to the notion. SQ 837 can take us there, but only if we fight like hell for it.

Let no one silence you. The constraints that we follow are only in place because we continue to follow them. It’s time to lead. It’s time for you to be heard and understood.

Stand boldly, sign proudly, and together we’ll write the next chapter, together.

Stay fearless,
James
