8. Donnie Darko (2001)
Richard Kelly’s enigmatic tale of time loops and existential angst is both eerie and thought-provoking. Gyllenhaal’s portrayal of a troubled teen is magnetic and haunting.

9. Repulsion (1965)
Another Polanski classic, this film dives into the deteriorating mental state of a woman confronted with her own fears and desires. Its claustrophobic setting and surreal imagery are deeply unsettling.

10. Shutter Island (2010)
