High Times in Oklahoma
On August 24th and 25th the High Times Oklahoma Cannabis Cup will be at the Lost Lakes Amphitheater in Oklahoma City. For some, this is news breaking as High Times was unsure if they were going to be in the Sooner State until the beginning of last month! The excitement can be heard and seen buzzing around the Oklahoma Cannabis Community. The website boasts local sponsors such as; APCO MED, New Leaf, Helix Extracts, Fire Lead, Lotus Gold, and more!
Not only will local bud be competing to be the best of the best, there will be performances and vendors available as well. You are allowed to bring your own Cannabis (as much as the 3oz legal limit) and smoke it on site as long as you have your medical card with you. There is a patient medical area that is designated so you do not have to have a medical card to get into the actual event. Please be aware that You cannot use an out of state medical card to enter the patient area!
July Wasn’t Booming for Curaleaf
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning letter to CBD brand Curaleaf at the end of last month putting them on notice about their violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act in their marketing. This was not good news for the CBD giant because if you remember, CVS carries their brand in store. Immediately the stock for the company fell by 8% and CVS issued a statement that they would be pulling some of the Curaleaf CBD products from its shelves.
It is important to remember that the FDA has made it clear, they will not tolerate manufactures making pharmaceutical claims about CBD, not that they have a stance on the legality of cannabinoid oil. So, if you claim that your product can cure cancer or alleviates pain but it is not an FDA approved product, get ready for a letter or worse a knock on your door!
You Have the Wrong Left Handed Okies!
Last month, Jeffrey Peregrino, was booked into the LeFlore County Jail facing two counts of trafficking Methamphetamine. He is the owner of Left Handed Okies Medical Marijuana Dispensary In Spiro Oklahoma. Jeffrey is alleged to have sold meth to an undercover Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) on more than one occasion! Of course, the dispensary in Spiro is under an emergency shut down due to the circumstances.
However, our story doesn’t stop there. The owner of Left Handed Okies in Shady Point would like everyone to know they have no business association with the dispensary of the same name in Spiro. They would also like everyone to know they are against meth and opioids and that is why they got into this industry to fight the epidemic. So next time you are in Shady Point remember the good people of Left Handed Okies and not the unfortunate story connected to the name.
